Father Thomas Houle, who presided (since retired) over two of the area's Roman Catholic Churches, St. Peter's Parish of Rutland, and St. Alphonsus Ligouri of Pittsford (now part of the Otter Valley Catholic Community), took stewardship of the earth very seriously.  He, with the help of some knowledgeable parishioners, secured nonprofit grants for each of the churches.  Through fundraising among the members, they were able to raise the matching funds needed for both installations.
